The latest AquaSPICE report sheds light on the second phase of Dow Terneuzen trials, focusing on treating dilution steam blowdown from crackers for reuse as boiler feed water.

The IMPROVED mobile research infrastructure was deployed, evaluating technologies such as MABR, GAC, UF, IEX, MPPE, and RO. Despite extensive testing, no treatment combination successfully met the target level for Total Organic Carbon (<1 ppm). Mini-boiler experiments revealed that the treated water generated more organic acids than Dow’s current feed water, rendering it unsuitable for reuse.
