AquaSPICE  Workshop CS#3 – Antwerp case study

The Port of Antwerp is the leading European oil & chemical hotspot in the EU?  It is in fact a well-known port hosting the ultimate industrial players in base and chemicals production. The companies invest larger water quantities to process products, cooling etc. Climate change is dramatically increasing the salinization level of groundwaters within the port, including the River Scheldt and the Albert Canal. A month ago, AquaSPICE partners joined the CS#3 – Antwerp case Workshop with the purpose to understand and discuss together scope and actions to be done for its 2 subcases:
1. Antwerp harbor and Albert Canal- Water quality monitoring & operational model.
2. Water reuse and cooling water- Optimization of water reuse and alternative water sources (cooling).
       Stakeholders engaged and collaborated together to make sure AquaSPICE’s innovations will make an impact to address this challenge. More Workshops news will follow up soon.
